Eagles Win Super Bowl, Drunk Fans Damage City

The streets of Philadelphia where overflowing with fans last night as the Eagles finally earned the title, “Super Bowl Champions.”  Philadelphia beat the New England Patriots 41-33 in Super Bowl 52 at U.S. Bank Stadium in Minneapolis.

As far as the team goes, third time was the charm for Philly as they got to lift the Lombardi Trophy after losing to the Patriots in Super Bowl 39 and the Raiders in Super Bowl 15. The Eagles did win three championships in the pre-Super Bowl era with the last one coming in 1960.

As for the city, the night wasn’t so sweet with reports of property damage – including looting at an Old Navy, cars being flipped, tearing down of light posts – and traffic lights – as well as people inexplicably jumping off the awning at the Ritz-Carlton downtown. That  is, until the awning caved under the weight of the revelers.
