Three Things You Should Know: Tue June 18, 2024

Today is Tuesday June 18, 2024 and here are Three Things You Should Know Today:

-Extreme heat warnings continue across West MI and across the country. Chicago broke a heat record yesterday: 97 degrees. The pattern will shift after this week and then we’ll see temperatures drop back down into the 70s and 80s next week. Expect some hot stretches in July and August too. Heat indexes slated to feel like the low triple digits this week.

-Police are still looking for 17-year-old Penelope Wise from Cedar Springs. Deputies say they don’t suspect foul play. Yesterday, groups met to comb the White Pine Trail. Her parents say, "keep spreading the word, keep sharing, and keep an eye out when you’re out and about." If you know where Penny is, call the Kent County Sheriff’s Office.

-Carrie Underwood and family are safe after a fire at their home in Leiper’s Fork Tennessee. It started with a UTV and spread to the garage. The family and their pets all escaped without injury. Fire Rescue says there was no damage to the house. Glad they’re okay.
