With lots of folks in Florida scrambling to get out of the state ahead of Hurricane Irma’s arrival, JetBlue airlines has put a cap on ticket prices in every city they fly from in the sunshine state. They’ve announced a maximum charge of $99 for seats on direct flights and a max of $159 up to the last available seat on connecting flights.
The airline is also helping passengers out by adding flights to its schedule from cities where they have planes available. And for existing reservations, JetBlue is waiving cancellation fees and change fees and differences in airfare for rebooking.
“Given that many Floridians are struggling to get out of harm’s way, this is welcome news,” Florida Senator Bill Nelson says in a statement. “I hope more airlines do the right thing and follow suit.”
