Maddie & Tae are opening up about some of the problems they faced last year, and reveal things got pretty bad after their label Dot Records shut down. In a video posted to their YouTube channel, Maddie Marlow admits she suffered from depression after realizing they may not be able to put music out again.
“If I’m being honest, I went through a really, pretty tough depression after the label thing happened,” Maddie shares. “I kind of always was the person that had a plan, had it figured out, and I never kind of been like dropped on my a** before.” She adds, “That was really hard and my self-worth was tied into it, my purpose, everything.”
The duo has since signed with Universal Music Group Nashville, and say they are really happy with the label. And Maddie says she’s learned a lot from what they went through.
“I truly look in the mirror and love who I am today because of the pain that I had to go through to get here,” she offers. “I’m not going to allow my trials to defeat me, I’m going to let them build me up and learn from them and take as much wisdom as I can from each trial.” Check out the duo’s video to the right.
