(WOOD) — The Associated Press is reporting that a magnitude 8.2 earthquake has struck about 175 miles southeast of Kodiak, Alaska, sparking a tsunami warning.
A tsunami warning has been issued for Alaska and a tsunami watch for the U.S. West Coast following the quake.
“Based on the preliminary earthquake parameters … widespread hazardous tsunami waves are possible. No areas covered by this message appear to be immediately threatened. However… the situation is still under investigation,” said the National Weather Service’s Tsunami Warning Center.
