ERNEST posted a snippet of an unreleased collaboration with reigning CMA New Artist of the Year Jelly Roll. The Flower Shops star teased the song on Instagram on Monday (February 12), simply writing in his caption, “I went to college/ I went to jail,” tagging Jelly Roll and adding an emoji of a pair of eyes, along with the hashtag “Nashville, Tennessee.” It wasn’t immediately clear, however, when the two Nashville, Tennessee-born singer-songwriters might release the collaboration as they stirred anticipation among eager social media commenters.
ERNEST has previously hinted at new music with photos from the recording studio. In August, he said he’s in the process of working on “my favorite album yet.” Months later, he released “Kiss Of Death,” written with Andy Albert, and Ryan Vojtesak, and produced by Joey Moi. That song followed his latest full-length project, Flower Shops (The Album): Two Dozen Roses, expanding the original 11-track album to 24 tracks. ERNEST previously said in an interview with CMT that Two Dozen Roses builds from the “same old, sad story. …He dropped the ball and has to go back to the flower shops again.”
