Pigeons Create A "Wildlife Situation" On Board Flight

It may have been the most unusual airplane announcement in history.

A Delta Airlines flight from Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport to Madison, Wisconsin, was delayed when two pigeons got inside the plane’s cabin. Passenger Tom Caw, who is his actual name, noticed the first pigeon walking under the seats before takeoff and alerted a flight attendant. The pilot announced a “wildlife situation,” and a baggage handler removed the bird. As the plane taxied, a second pigeon flew down the aisle, causing passengers to scream.

The plane returned to the gate again, and another handler caught the second pigeon. One passenger tried to grab a bird with his jacket. The pilot told air traffic control it was a first for them, joking it was his second pigeon issue that night. The flight, with 119 passengers and five crew members, arrived in Madison 56 minutes late. Delta thanked everyone for safely removing the birds and apologized for the delay.
