George Birge postponed the first weekend of his headlining “Cowboy Songs Tour” because of “historic snow and ice” predicted over the weekend.
The “Mind On You” hitmaker was set to kick off his run of shows on Thursday evening (January 22) in Hobart, Indiana. The tour was scheduled to continue on Friday night (January 23) and Saturday night (January 24) in Grand Rapids, Michigan, and Rootstown, Ohio, respectively. Now, those performances will take place in late April, Birge confirmed.
“Guys, it absolutely crushes me to say this, but we are unfortunately going to have to reschedule the first weekend of the ‘Cowboy Songs Tour,’” Birge said in a clip he shared on Instagram on Wednesday (January 21). “There’s historic snow and ice in the forecast for this weekend, and as badly as I want to play for you guys, I can’t, in good conscience, put my fans at risk getting there, and put my band and crew at risk driving on those roads. So, we’re going to be pushing these shows to April. …I wanted to come play for you guys so bad. Not only were these the first three shows of our headlining tour, but they were also my first three sold-out shows of the tour. But the show is going to come back. …Me and the band have put so much work into these shows, and we can’t wait to come see y’all. So, hang tight and know that we love you guys, and please stay safe in that weather out there.”
Birge will now perform on Thursday, April 23 in Hobart, Indiana, on Friday, April 24 in Rootstown, Ohio, and on Saturday, April 25 in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Tickets will be valid for the rescheduled dates. The tour includes Mackenzie Carpenter, Jake Banfield, Brian Fuller and Highway Home on select dates.
