Dan + Shay posted a new teaser on Monday (March 30) after the duo mysteriously cleared their Instagram account.
A tear rolls down Shay Mooney’s cheek and a phone begins to ring. The clip goes on to show glimpses of Mooney appearing in the back of a law enforcement vehicle, duo partner Dan Smyers sitting somberly in a church, a ticking clock, a “defendant” nameplate, flashing law enforcement lights and more. The 17-second clip ends by teasing Thursday (April 2) at 11 p.m. CT, Smyers wrote in the comments on Instagram, “WE ARE BACK.”
Dan + Shay didn’t share any other details, including a possible song title, as of publication time.
The award-winning duo’s most recent song to release is a holiday single, “Long Live Christmas,” which followed their highly-requested cover of Taylor Swift’s “Back To December.” Dan + Shay made their debut more than a decade ago, and since then, they’ve become known for “Tequila,” “Speechless,” “10,000 Hours,” “Save Me The Trouble,” “You,” “Bigger House,” “Glad You Exist,” “Nothin’ Like You,” “All To Myself,” “19 You + Me,” “From the Ground Up” and other hit singles throughout their career.
The duo explained their unplanned “hiatus” from social media in October 2025. Smyers said at the time, in part, that “we’ve just been buried in the studio and forgot to post on socials.” He hinted at “little surprises” on the way, and encouraged fans to “stay tuned. We’ll be teasing them soon. …We’re fired up. 2026 is gonna be huge for us.”
