Man Cracks Up The Internet With Wife’s “Romantic” Texts

Being married isn’t always easy and humor goes a long way to help diffuse tense situations. No one knows this better than Chip Leighton, who’s been married to Lisa for 25 years now. The dad of two from Maine regularly shares humorous family-friendly content on Instagram and he recently posted some “romantic texts” he’s gotten from his wife that have social media viewers cracking up.

The post, captioned “Who says romance is dead?” has plenty of practical texts and some with not-so-subtle feedback, but romance? Not so much.

  • "Could you whisk that salad dressing any louder?"
  • "Man, you really squished down this patio cushion."
  • "Close garage door" and "Do we have yogurt?"
  • “Did you feed the cat?”
  • “I’ve never heard anyone eat popcorn as loudly as you just did”
  • “So, we’re having smoked paprika delivered every four months?”
  • “We’re going to spend whatever it takes to get Taylor Swift tickets”

Leighton’s list inspired social media users to share their own less-than-romantic texts they’ve gotten from their partners recently:

  • “Come inside after you’re done sneezing”
  • "Headed back from the vet. Do you want to do a Trader Joe run when I get back?" Our dates have gotten so steamy 😂
  • “I texted my husband the other day ‘Great news! Your favorite hot dogs are back at the grocery store.’”
  • “I just texted my husband a link to a toilet I think we should buy 🤣”
  • “When you trim your beard today please trim your nose and ear hair too” Yes. This is one of my romantic texts🤣
  • "Is it really necessary to fart within a 5km radius of me?"
