High school track runner Kaelen Tucker suffered a concussion and a possible skull fracture after being struck on the head by a baton from a competing runner during a relay.
Tucker was representing Brookeville High School in Virginia and was running the second leg of the 4x200 relay race.
As she entered turn four, Tucker accelerated and passed her competitor, who didn’t seem to take it well and struck her on the head with the baton.
Tucker has since received medical attention, while the runner from I.C. Norcom was disqualified, along with the entire team from that school, and the incident is currently being investigated.
