Hair ties are more than just stylish—they can cause a pet’s medical emergency.
A 6-year-old Florida cat was surrendered for euthanasia due to a blockage, but the HALO No-Kill Rescue Shelter in Sebastian stepped in to save him.
Midnite had surgery to remove the blockage, and veterinarians on the team were shocked to find that it was caused by 26 hair ties.
Midnite is recovering well, but HALO shared a warning on social media, saying, "Ever wondered where all your hair ties disappear to? Sometimes they end up in places you would never imagine. Like your pet's stomach. It likely wasn't intentional, but this is an important reminder that small objects around the house can be incredibly dangerous for pets. Hair ties, rubber bands, strings, and other tiny items can quickly become life-threatening."
