Late last month, a father and son began a cross-country cycling journey to visit every Major League Baseball ballpark while raising awareness for childhood cancer. Scott and Ethan Pesch set out from Seattle on March 26 and plan to finish in Miami on September 26, covering more than 9,500 miles over six months.

Scott previously attempted a similar trip in 1994, but this time he’s completing it alongside his son. The journey was inspired by personal loss, including the death of a professor’s daughter from cancer and a family member, Rigo Sanchez. The pair is raising funds for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, with all proceeds supporting research and treatment for children with serious illnesses.

Along the route, the father and son have visited stadiums, stepped onto major league fields, and received signed game balls from players. They’re also inviting others to join them for portions of the ride as they travel across the country.
