When Jon and Marci Newman got married, they vowed to stick together in sickness and in health. Jon takes that vow very seriously and proved it in a candid photograph taken by their daughter, which has gone viral on social media.
17-year-old Mackenna Newman tweeted a photo of her dad sitting at a desk right outside her parents' bedroom. Her caption reads, "My mom has to stay in her room in isolation for her cancer radiation so my dad set up a desk at her door to keep her company and I'm crying."
Marci is battling thyroid cancer, and when Jon can't be right by her side, he stays as close as he can, just right outside their bedroom.
Mackenna says she is grateful for the outpouring of love she's received on social media, and Marci can't say enough about her husband. She says, "Jon goes to every doctor's appointment, every blood test, every surgery, every radiation. And, as you can see, if he can't be by my side he is as close as he can get!"
