The wildfire in Newaygo County is contained but firefighters are keeping an eye on the area. It broke out around 6pm last night in the Manistee National Forest. Some private property was also burned. It scorched about 1 mile by 0.3 mile area. No word yet about what started it. More here.
Charles Pickett Jr. was found guilty of second degree murder yesterday for hitting a group of bicyclists on Westnedge Ave in 2016. He was also found guilty of operating under the influence. More here.
Authorities identified the 90-year-old man who died Tuesday after a tree fell on an SUV in Lowell. Howard Thumser was a passenger in the SUV. His wife was driving, she has only minor injuries. More here.
