Treat, not trick

Halloween in closing in faster than a knife-weilding-killer in your favorite scary movie.

On a side note - Halloween is looking pretty scary in terms of temperatures in West MI this year...

If you still have yet to stock pile all your loot for trick-or-treaters this year, prepare to pay a little more!

In August, Hersey announced it wouldn't be able to meet demand for Halloween, Hershey CEO, Michele Buck, told CNN.

Consumers are demanding more regular and Halloween-themed candy than Hershey can make!

PayPal reports the cost for all-things-Halloween will cost us about 34% more this year compared to last year.

The Bureau of Labor Statistics reported candy prices rose 2% from July to August. Hershey hiked prices 14% in June, Nestle hiked prices in the US 9.8% in July, Mars Chocolate hiked their prices 7%.

Not only are prices on the rise, but some items are shrinking - a.k.a. "Shrink-flation."

Hershey reduced their 18oz packs of dark chocolate Kisses by almost 2oz, but the price is the same.

The Krazy Coupon Lady compared candy prices at several retailers this year: Target, Walmart, CVS, and Walgreens.

The findings: Target and Walmart have the best prices per package on popular brands.

The brand that raised their prices the least? Mars - 3 Musketeers, M&M's , Milky Way, Snickers, Twix, and Skittles.
